MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University volleyball team inks one so far for the upcoming 2008 volleyball season. Libby Walter, a 5-7 incoming freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, will join the team after successful high school and club careers.

Walter, a Seton High product in Cincinnati, was the starting defensive specialist for Seton in 2006 and helped lead the team to the Division I Ohio State Championship and the 2007 District Championship. In 2008, she made a transition to setter and led the St. Bernards to the Sectional Championship and earned First-Team All-League in the Girls Greater Cincinnati League, First-Team All-City for the Greater Cincinnati area and Third-Team All-State for Division I schools in Ohio.

Walter also played setter for the Cincinnati Team Z Volleyball Club from 2004 to 2008. During the 2004, 2005 and 2006 club seasons, she helped lead the team to top-10 finishes in the Open Division of the National Junior Olympic Tournaments at the U-14, U-15 and U-16 levels. In 2007, Walter helped lead her club team to the Division U-17 National Junior Olympic Championship and a third-place finish in the Open Division U-18 National J.V.D.A. Tournament in 2008.

Walter is expected to replace setter Maria Romanowski who graduated last season.
