MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University women’s softball team earned another last minute win on Saturday, beating UNC-Pembroke 1-0 in the 8th inning.
Both teams were scoreless through seven innings, sending the game into International tie-breaking rules. Pembroke took the plate first in the 8th inning, but we unable to get much going as Amber Jack allowed two base hits before striking out the final three batters.
Cassy Zamora was placed at second as part of the international tie-breaking rules. Brittany Anderson struck out, but Shyla Rider blasted a base hit to left field which allowed Zamora to leg it out and reach home plate for the win.
Amber Jack got the win for the Bucs who improve to 2-1 on the season. The Buccaneers return to action on Sunday, Feb 8 against West Georgia at 10 am.

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University softball team earned its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon, beating St. Thomas 1-0 at Buccaneer Field in the 2009 Barry-Nova Southeastern Invitational Softball Tournament.
The only run of the game came in the fifth inning when Shyla Rider earned a double with a deep hit to center field. On an errant throw Rider got to third base and crossed the plate minutes later when the Bobcats tried to tag Amanda Goetz at first for the force out.
Freshman pitcher Brianna Smith earned her first collegiate win in the victory. The Buccaneers move to 1-1 on the season and return to action on Sunday, Feb 8 against West Georgia at 10 am.
