Women's Golf Finishes Third at NCAA Regional

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers fell one spot to finish fourth at the NCAA Division II South Regional on Wednesday. The Bucs carded a third round 310, matching Tuesday’s score to finish
312 -310 -310 –932 on the 6,165 yard, par-72 Mission Inn & Resort course.

Johanna Soderstrom fired an 80 on the third round to drop from first to third out of 33 individuals to earn one of two individual bids to the national tournament. She finished 73-73-80—226, just three shots off the leader Sandra Changkija of Nova Southeastern. Changkija shot 72-76-75—223 to earn the individual medalist.

The Sharks also claimed the team title after shooting 301 on the final round. The Sharks (308-293-201—902) finished seven strokes ahead of Rollins (304-303-302—909). The Tars were the most consistent team in the field.

Florida Southern (310 -317 -299—926) shot a low-round of 299 on the final day to leap over the Buccaneers into third place. Heather Brugner’s 73-76-75—224 left her one stroke behind Changkija in second place as an individual.

Ana Haglind (79-77-75—231) continued her improvement with a team-low 75 on the third round. She remained tied for 14th. Freshman Isadora Stapff (81-78-78—237), senior RemiJin Camping (81-82-77—240) and sophomore Cristina Coll (79-83-81—243) rounded out the Buccaneer field.

Nova Southeastern and Rollins advanced to the NCAA National Tournament, while Brugner earned the region’s other individual berth.

Lynn (+90) and West Florida (+121) were a distant fourth and fifth respectively. 
 

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Johanna Soderstrom (+2) took over first place out of 33 individuals to help the Barry University women’s golf team move up one spot in the second round of NCAA South Regional on Tuesday. The Buccaneers shot a second round score of 310 on the 6,165 yard, par-72 Mission Inn & Resort course and are currently third out of the six-team field with a two-round score of 622.

 

Soderstrom is currently just two strokes over par after carding two identical round scores of 73 and has claimed top individual honors by two strokes with one round to play on Wednesday. She has fired a two-round score of 146 (73-73) to lead the field of 33.

 

Anna Haglind (+12) held onto her spot T14 with a two-round score of 156 (79-77), while Isadora Stapff (+15) moved up two spots to a T19 with a score of 159 (81-78). Cristina Coll (+18) is currently T25, while RemiJin Camping (+19) is T27 with a two-round score of 163.

 

After leading the first day, Rollins (+31) slipped one spot to second place after a two-round score of 607. Nova Southeastern (+25) fired the tournament low 293 team score in the second round to best the Tars and claimed the tournament lead with a two-round score of 601. The Sharks currently have a six stroke lead over the six-team field. Barry (+46) are currently third followed by Florida Southern (+51) in fourth and fifth-place Lynn (+57). West Florida (+82) rounds out the six teams in sixth place.

 

The NCAA Division II South Regional tournament will conclude on Wednesday, May 7 with an 8 am tee time.
