HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Barry University women’s golf team finished the first day in fourth place out of a six-team field at the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament on Monday. The Buccaneers carded an opening round score of 312 on the 6,165 yard, par-72 Mission Inn & Resort Club course.
The Buccaneers are only eight strokes behind the tournament leader Rollins (+16) who fired a first-round score of 304. Nova Southeastern (+20) finished the first day in second place, while Florida Southern (+22) was third with a score of 310. Barry (+24) finished fourth and Lynn (+30) rounded out the top five.
Barry’s Johanna Soderstrom (+1) finished first round with a score of 73 and finished T2 out of a field of 33 individuals. Anna Haglind (+7) and Cristina Coll (+7) finished the first day with scores of 79 and T14, while Isadora Stapff (+9) and RemiJin Camping (+9) finished T21 with scores of 81.
Nova Southeastern’s Sandra Changkija (E) finished with an even-par score of 72 to lead the field of 33 individuals by one stroke after the first day.
The second round of the South Regional tournament will begin with an 8 am tee time on Tuesday, May 6.
