ROLLA, Mo. – The Barry University softball team concluded the 2008 season with three more All-Americans in addition to the four named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America squad. Amber Jack (Jr., Homestead, Fla.), Cristina DeTagle (Sr., North Miami Beach, Fla.) and Megan Young (Jr., Linden, Calif.) all earned Daktronics All-America honors.
Jack concluded the season with her second All-America honor, this time as a First-Team selection to the 2008 Daktronics Softball team. She finished the season with the second-lowest ERA (0.66) in NCAA Division II and a 30-3 overall record. She was also a 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA First-Team All-American, NFCA and Daktronics First-Team All-South Region, Daktronics Regional and Sunshine State Conference Pitcher-of-the-Year, and First-Team All-SSC.
Picking up her second All-America honor this season, DeTagle earned a spot on the Daktronics All-America Second-Team. She finished the season as Barry’s all-time career hits leader and a .427 batting average this season. She was also a Second-Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American, NFCA and Daktronics First-Team All-South Region and First-Team All-SSC.
Rounding out the three Daktronics All-Americans for Barry is Young. Seeing time at both pitcher and the Bucs’ designated player this season, she picks up her second All-America honor this season. Young finished the year with a .363 batting average, five homers and 34 RBI. She was also a Louisville Slugger/NFCA Second-Team All-American, NFCA and Daktronics All-South Region and Second-Team All-SSC.
