MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University women’s basketball team has released their 2009-10 schedule. Two tournaments in December will be followed by the majority of SSC play taking place in January and February.
After exhibition games with Broward College, Miami-Dade College, and the University of Miami, the Bucs open the regular season at the Nova Southeastern Tip-Off Tournament. The Bucs will face regional opponents Georgia College and Armstrong Atlantic on Nov 20 and 21.
The Bucs first home game is against St. Thomas on Dec 2. The following day the Bucs travel south to take on Florida International on the 2nd.
SSC play begins at home on Dec. 5 as the Bucs face Florida Southern at 2:00 pm.
During December the Bucs are in two local tournaments, playing Minnesota State – Moorhead and Central Missouri in the Cruizin’ Classic at Nova Southeastern on Dec 18 and 19, followed by the Lynn University Holiday Tournament where the Bucs will face Bowies State and Wisconsin – Lutheran on Dec 29 and 30.
The Bucs will enter the New Year playing the majority of conference action. In January the Bucs face all eight SSC teams, drawing Florida Tech, Nova Southeastern and Saint Leo at home on the 13th, 16th, and 27th respectively. On the road, the Bucs see Eckerd, Rollins, Lynn, Tampa, and Florida Southern. In addition to SSC play, the Bucs face Palm Beach Atlantic on the road on Jan. 9.
The Bucs wrap up the season in February playing SSC opponents Eckerd, Rollins, Tampa, and Lynn at home and traveling to Nova Southeastern, Florida Tech, and Saint Leo.
Last season the Bucs finished with a 15-13 overall record and a 6-10 record in conference. The Bucs started the season strong, earning a #12 ranking in the USA TODAY ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.
