MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneer dropped their second straight match, losing 2-1 to the Nova Southeastern Knights at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday night.
The Bucs (6-2-0, 0-1-0 SSC) grabbed the early lead, striking in the 31st minute. Jonathan Leite played the ball up the right side and Henry Apaloo’s cross found Lee Yakubowich unmarked in the box for a header that broke the scoring ice.
The game was 1-0 at the half, but in the second period, the Knights (5-2-0, 1-0-0 SSC) took advantage of two Buccaneer defensive miscues to score twice and take the game.
In the 64th minute, Adam Ludden’s shot was blocked by Mike Mikulin, but Jason Wiles’ clearance went short to Edouard Mason at the far post and he ripped a shot past keeper Chris Rich for the equalizer.
Just eight minutes later, the Bucs again failed the clear the ball out of the box after Chance Foutch’s center pass and Ludden chipped the ball over Rich for what proved to be the game-winner.
Rich made one save for the Bucs, while Adam Spinelli had three for the Knights.
The Bucs travel to Rollins on Saturday with kickoff slated for 7:00 pm.
