Women's Golf Finish Fifth at NSU Spring Classic

TAMARAC, Fla. -- Starting the final round in third place, the Barry University women's golf team slipped back to a fifth place finish with a two-round 650 (317-333) out of 11 teams at the NSU Spring Classic hosted at Woodmont Country Club on Tuesday.
 
Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn fired identical 307 rounds and finished with a two-round score of 614 and finished 15 strokes ahead of the 11-team field for the tournament team title. West Florida finished 15 strokes back in second place with a two round 629 (314-315) score, while host Nova Southeastern finished third with a 635 (320-315) two-round score. Florida Gulf Coast (320-327=647) and Barry (317-333=650) rounded out the top five team scores.
 
RemiJin Camping continued to lead the Buccaneer field and finished sixth out of 60 with a two-round total of 154 (76-78). Shannon Langhardt finished three strokes behind Camping and tied for eighth with a two-round score of 157 (76-81), while Johanna Soderstrom (83-85=168) finished tied for 30th. Kelly Kronen (82-89=171) and Michelle Torry (100-91=191) finished tied for 37th and 52nd to round out the Barry team scores. Playing as indviduals, Lauren Kane (84-85=169) and Gabbi Waranoi (89-82=171) finished the tournament tied for 34th and 37th respecively.
 
Lynn's Natasha Morgan (75-75) and teammate Katy McNicoll (77-73) both finished tied for the top individual at the conclusion of tournament play. However, Morgan managed to edge McNicoll in a playoff to earn the individual medalist honors.
 
The Buccaneers will return to the links Friday, Mar. 31 through Sunday, Apr. 2 for the prestigious Ryder Women's Collegiate Championship for a 54-hole tournament.
