Men’s Golf Finish Sixth at Spartan Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. – The Barry University men’s golf team fired a 291 in the final round and finished sixth out of 13 teams at the Spartan Invitational earlier today hosted by the University of Tampa at Rogers Park golf course. The Buccaneers finished with a three-round score of 885 (292-302-291).
 
Florida Tech (292-292-291) and Lynn (290-290-295) carded identical three-round 875 scores and finished tied for the top spot. Both Johnson & Wales (290-293-293) and Rollins (292-286-298) finished just one stroke back of the tournament leader with a three-round 876 score and tied for third. Webber International (298-290-290=878) finished just three strokes off the tournament lead to round out the top five.
 
Barry’s Juan Weissenberg (71-76-68=215) fired a career-best three-under-par 68 score in the final round and finished tied for third out of 95 individuals. He was followed by Victor Billskoog (74-76-70=220) who carded a one-under-par 70 in the final round, while slotted him 16th. Nick Gillaspy (73-77-75=225) and Tony Boksen (74-73-78=225) finished tied for 34th, while Ramon Zablah (76-81-78=235) rounded out the Buccaneer team tied at 68. Preston Roberts finished tied at 32 with a three-round score of 224 (73-75-76).
 
Flagler’s Anders Ekdahl shot a three-round one-under-par 212 (70-73-69) to capture the individual medalist honors.
 
The Buccaneers will be in action again on Oct. 23-24 at the NSU Fall Classic held at the PGA National Golf Couse.
