MELBOURNE, Fla. – The 2006 spring championship season finally got underway for the Barry University men’s golf team as they concluded the Titan Winter Invitational hosted by Brevard Community College earlier today.
Johnson & Wales ran away with the tournament team title with a three-round 863 score winning by 17 strokes. Flagler finished second with an 880 three-round performance, while Central Alabama (885), Florida Tech (888) and Darton (889) rounded out the top five. Barry's golfers did not enter the tournament as a team.
Registered for the tournament as individuals, Barry freshman Victor Billskoog finished the tournament tied for eight with a two-round one over par 217 (73-71-73) score to lead the team. Teammate Tony Bosken finished eight strokes back with a 54-hole round of 225 (74-75-76), while Preston Roberts (79-73-75=227) and Chris Davis (74-78-78=230) rounded out the host of Buccaneer individuals after being tied with each other in the previous round. Jeff Hanak carded a two-round 158 (79-79) score in the opening rounds, however withdrew in the final round
Johnson & Wales' Brad Valois carded a three-round eight-under-par 208 score to earned the tournament individual medalist honors.
The Buccaneers will open up team championship play next week Feb. 13-14 at the Matlock Invitational in Lakeland, Fla.
