Women’s Soccer Loses To Spartans

TAMPA, Fla.—The 11^th-ranked Barry Buccaneers fell 7-2 to the 16^th-ranked Tampa Spartans at Peppin Field on Saturday.

 

The loss snapped the Bucs’ 49-game Sunshine State Conference women’s soccer unbeaten streak that dated back to 1998. The loss is only the Bucs’ second in seven years of SSC play.

 

Emelie Karlsson scored both goals for the Bucs (8-2-1, 2-1-0 SSC), knotting the game 1-1 in the fifth minute and providing the final margin in the 88^th minute.

 

Kelly Tryson made seven saves for the Bucs, while Shannon Aitken had two for Tampa (7-1-1, 2-0-0 SSC).

 

The Bucs will return home to face the Saint Leo Lions on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6:00 pm.
