MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University women’s soccer team (10-2-1, 4-1-0 SSC) picked up their second consecutive Sunshine State Conference this week with a 9-0 victory over Eckerd College (2-10-0, 1-3-0 SSC). Four players for the Buccaneers recorded two goals each; Emelie Karlsson, Elisa Pirinen, Daniela Tjeder and Nicole Uno. Shannon Miller recorded three assists on the evening.
Barry started things off in the 23rd minute when Tjeder and Pirinen fed Karlson inside the box for the first score of the match. Six minutes later, Karlsson registered her second score with a header from 15 yards outs on a cross from Damarys Mendez. From that point on, the Buccaneers dominated the match and did not allow a shot on goal until midway through the second half.
In the net, Kelly Tryson and Liz Morgan combined for the shutout. Morgan recorded two saves on the night, while Tryson did not face a shot. For Eckerd, Lauren Dunn picked up eight saves on 32 total shots by Barry.
The Buccaneers will be back in action again on Friday, Oct. 14 when they travel to Lakeland to take on SSC foe Florida Southern. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
