Published on: May 11, 2005

ORLANDO, Fla. - After completing a 35-19 run and a 15-9 mark in the Sunshine State Conference for the 2005 season, the Barry University softball team placed four members of the All-conference teams. Kim Fujimoto, Maile Keeney and Cristina DeTagle all earned Second-team honors, while Ramie Garcia was an All-SSC Honorable Mention.

Two-time NFCA All-American Kim Fujimoto (Jr., Carmichael, Calif.) earned her third All-SSC honor with a second-team selection. A first-team selection in her first two seasons with the Buccaneers, Fujimoto closed out her second consecutive year without committing an error in the field in 424 chances. She also finished her third campaign with a .282 batting average and was second on the team in home runs and RBI.

Second year player Maile Keeney (So., Longwood, Fla.) also picked up Second-team All-SSC honors after another impressive offensive year. Slotted in as the Bucs designated player for most of the season, Keeney led the team with 28 RBI and was second on the team with a .292 batting average and four home runs.

Rookie outfielder Cristina DeTagle (Fr., North Miami Beach, Fla.) rounded out the Buccaneers Second-team selections. In her first year with the Barry softball program, she hit a team-high .319 on the year and was tied for the team lead with a perfect 15 of 15 in stolen base attempts.

An SSC Honorable Mention selection, Ramie Garcia (Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) posted an impressive performance in her first year with the Buccaneers. A transfer from Phoenix CC, Garcia collected a 15-9 record in her first year with Barry with a 1.27 ERA, 121 strikeouts and 10 shutouts in 165.2 innings pitched. She also held the opposition to a mere .191 batting average.
