MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Buccaneers (10-11, 3-8 SSC) dropped a tough Sunshine State Conference contest to visiting Saint Leo (7-15, 3-8 SSC) by the score of 58-54.
Ryan Saunders sparked the Barry offense with seven first half points and four assists to propel the Buccaneers to an 11-point lead to close out the first half.
In the second half, the Bucs could not protect their lead and the Lions roared back to rally and take the contest. Saint Leo’s Scott Seifert, paced the Lions with 12 second half points and George Eshesimua tailed nine points in the half.
Saunders led the Bucs in scoring with 10 points and five assists. Phil Puccia, Eddie Young and Felipe Barrios each recorded nine points. Amadou Fall picked up nine boards.
Seifert led the Lions with a double-double 12 point-12 rebound performance.
Barry will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 8 when they host Eckerd College at the Health & Sports Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
