MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Injuries continued to plague the Barry University men’s basketball team (9-10, 2-7 SSC) as they suffered their seventh consecutive loss. The Buccaneers fell to the visiting Lynn Fighting Knights (16-4, 8-1 SSC) earlier tonight in Sunshine State Conference action at the Health & Sports Center.
Lynn dominated play from the opening tip and went on an early 11-2 run by the 15:29 mark and never looked back leading the rest of the game. The Buccaneers managed to pull within two when Ryan Saunders (Jr., Orlando, Fla.) notched a three-pointer with 7:19 left to play in the second half, but Lynn held on for the win.
Lynn out rebounded the Buccaneers 40 to 19.
Amadou Fall (Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Bucs with 12 points, while Saunders added 11. Felipe Barrios (Jr., Miami, Fla.) added 11 points off the bench.
James Cage paced Lynn with a game-high 17 points. Sheldon Edwards added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Andrew Smith followed with 11.
The Buccaneers will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 1 taking on the Florida Tech Panthers in Melbourne, Fla. at 7:30 pm.
