Game Three of NCAA Division II Softball South Regional

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – #5 Rollins College (38-14) defeated #4 University of Tampa (31-11) 4-1 in the third game of the NCAA Division II Softball South Regional Tournament. The Tars powered their way to the victory with two homeruns.
 
Jamie Rausch homered to deep left center to lead off the top of the second and give the Tars the early 1-0 lead.  In the top of the seventh, holding a narrow 2-1 lead, Missy Thogmartin blasted a two run shot to left center which put the game out of reach for the Spartans.
 
Nicole Anderson (22-5) earned the victory for Rollins, peppering eight hits, while striking out seven and allowing one earned run in the complete game effort. Deanna Henriott (21-8) was credited with the loss, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs. She struck out five.
 
Lauren Stracher notched the other run for Rollins, going one-for-three at the plate with the RBI.
 
Ashley Carrea registered the only run for the Spartans with a homerun in the bottom of the fourth. It was her first homerun on the season.
 
Rollins advances to meet the winner of the Barry/Albany State contest on Thursday, May 8th at 6:30 pm Tampa will meet the loser of the series in an 11:30 am meeting at Buccaneer Field.
