MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Ashley Carrea’s hot bat continued to propel the fourth seeded University of Tampa (33-12) in the NCAA Division II Softball South Regional. In the top of the fifth inning she hit her third homerun in as many days to break the deadlock and push the Spartans past seventh seed West Florida 2-0.

With Rachel Browning reaching on a single up the middle, Carrea took a Jillian LaFrance pitch deep to left field, proving to be the game winner in the fifth.

Deanna Henriott (22-8) held the Argonauts to just two hits in the complete game effort. She struck out 12. LaFrance (17-8) scattered seven hits with two earned runs. She fanned seven.

Carrea finished the game going two-for three at the plate with two RBI. Ashley Arcuri, Michele Horan, Samantha Becker and Browning recorded a hit each for Tampa.
