On Feb. 5, the Barry University women's soccer squad teamed with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes and communities in partnership with low-income families within Greater Miami.

"As a team, we found that volunteering is a good way to build camaraderie," junior captain Haley Struthers, who also serves as the president of Barry's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, said. "We have a good time laughing together and working with Habitat, we were able to physically see how much we had accomplished in just one event. Hopefully, it's an organization we can continue to work with."

The team was in charge of roofing the house, prepping the roof, laying down tar sealer and then affixing the shingles.
