CORAL GABLES, Fla.—The Barry University baseball team dropped a 6-0 loss to Miami on Friday night when the Bucs headed south to visit the DI-Hurricanes

The Canes (35-11) struck first in the third inning when a Nathan Melendres double scored Michael Broad. Moments later, Melendres  and Zeke DeVoss scored off a Frankie Ratcliff homer to right center to take the 4-0 lead.

Melendres made it a 5-0 ballgame with a solo shot to centerfield in the fifth. Later in the inning, the Canes scored one more run as the result of a single by Stephen Perez. Perez stole second, advanced to third on a Chris Leon throwing error, and scored on a Frankie Ratcliff single.

Barry (32-18) was unable to get its offense going against the explosive pitching of Chris Hernandez and E.J. Encinosa who combined for 17 strikeouts.  Hernandez took the win for Miami, moving to 7-2 on the season. The Bucs only combined for four hits all night.

For the Buccaneers, Brian Santana took his first loss of the season. He is 3-1 on the year now.

The Bucs return to action tomorrow night  to play their last game of the season when they wrap up the series with the Canes in Coral Gables at 7:00 pm
