“Awakening the Silent Soul: Treating Eating Disorders from the Inside Out”
Presented by Jennifer Nardozzi, Psy.D.
Professional Training Sponsored by Miami-Dade NEDAW Steering Committee, Barry University and The Renfrew Center
In recognition of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week
Friday, Feb. 29
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Landon Hall, Room 110
About the Training:
Over the course of the last several years, several paradigms and ways to conceptualize eating disorders have been introduced, including the use of spirituality as a means to treat eating disorders. There appears to be a high correlation between spirituality and better health outcomes in a variety of medical and mental health problems. Research and literature appears to support incorporating spirituality into the treatment process as an effective means of aiding in the healing process. This presentation will help practitioners begin to conceptualize eating disorders as a “hunger of the soul.” Both didactic information and experiential exercises will be incorporated throughout the workshop to provide ideas and new ways of treating eating disorders.
