Rey Fuentes enters his fifth season as an assistant after a terrific four-year playing career with the Bucs.

A versatile player, Fuentes saw time in the outfield, on the mound, and at first base. In 1999, he was second on the team in both homers and RBI.

Fuentes’ knowledge of the game and leadership qualities made him an unofficial coach on the field during his tenure as a player. He finished his career with eight homers, 65 runs scored and 58 RBI in 157 games.

Fuentes’ main responsibilities include; working with outfielders as well as strength and conditioning in the offseason and coordinating summer camps. He also coaches first base during games.

Fuentes received his bachelor’s degree in special education at Barry in December 2002. He is seeking his master’s degree in sports management.
