Robert Morgan joins the staff this season from Valdosta State University in Georgia where he was an All-American under legendary coach Tommy Thomas.

After a standout career at South Georgia College, he transferred to the Blazers and quickly established himself as one of the top shortstops in the nation. He hit .436 with a national record 32 doubles, nine homers and 57 RBI. He was named the Gulf South Conference East Division Player of the Year. In addition to the doubles record, he set VSU marks for batting, extra-base hits (46) and total bases (172) as well as a 31-game hitting streak.

He played professionally with the Washington Wildthings in the independent Frontier League, hitting .265 with two homers. He played after his junior season at VSU with the North Adams Steeple Cats in the NECBL under current Buccaneer skipper Marc Pavao.

He will work primarily with the Buccaneers’ pitchers. He earned a B.S. degree from VSU in general studies and is pursuing his master’s at Barry in sport management.
