After serving as the assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator for the Buccaneers for seven years, Pavao now enters his fourth season as the Buccaneer’s head coach. In three seasons, he has compiled a 97-63-2 overall record and a 36-36 mark against Sunshine State Conference opponents.

Pavao has continued to improve the programs success, as he led the Bucs to their best finish under his three-year tenure so far last season in 2008 going 32-19.

The Bucs set a team record batting .338, with several players having big seasons. Bobby Hernandez and Nick Shaw garnered All-America honors in the 2008 season. Along with the third team All-America honors, Hernandez earned Pitcher of the Year honors out of the SSC going 7-0 with a 1.58 ERA. Hernandez was also drafted in the 38th round by Boston, but will stay for his senior year. Shaw received honorable mention All-America honors during his sophomore season, as he led the Bucs with a .398 batting average and scored 63 runs out of the lead-off spot.

John Servidio posted a .366 batting average, 14 home runs and a .688 slugging percentage during his senior season and was drafted by the New York Mets in the 26th round.
Andrew Frezza tallied a .392 batting average, 82 hits and 15 steals during his senior season, which earned him a pick by the Boston Red Sox in the 31st round.

Senior lefty Mike Tomoleoni also signed a free agent contract with Boston after going 9-5, with a 3.75 ERA in 132 innings during his five-year career.

After starting the 2007 season 16-19, Pavao led the Buccaneers to an outstanding finish, winning 16 of the last 21 games. The Buccaneers finished third in the SSC with a 14-10 mark and narrowly missed out on an NCAA tournament berth.

Marc ’s first season as the Buccaneer baseball skipper was the best debut in school history, as Barry went 33-21-1 to top Chris Cafalone’s mark (30-19-2) in 1996.
The Bucs went 33-21-1 during the 2006 season led by Seattle Mariner draftee Alex Meneses and NCBWA All-American Nick Corbeil. Meneses, who along with Cesar Aranguren owns most the Buccaneer career records, hit .367 and walked 55 times to lead the SSC in on-base percentage at .515. Corbeil hit 16 homers to finish second all-time at 30.

The pitching staff was paced by junior Jayson Brown who led the SSC with a 1.97 ERA and the team with 94 strikeouts. In addition to Meneses, who played most of the season with the High A California League champs Inland Empire 66ers, Corbeil, Jerry Thornton and Greg Dicso all signed professional contracts.

In addition to his service at Barry, Pavao spent two summers, 2003 and 2004, as the head coach of the North Adams Steeple Cats, a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) in North Adams, Mass. In 2004, he led the Steeple Cats to a franchise-record 24 wins.
