Knight Joins Buccaneer Administration As Assistant AD

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Amanda Knight has been named the assistant director of athletics for compliance and special events, director of athletics Michael L. Covone announced today.

Previously the senior woman administrator at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Knight brings plenty of experience to the Buccaneers.

Knight joined the Javelina athletic department in March 2011 and was named the Assistant Athletic Director for Academics and Compliance/SWA in August of 2013. 

Knight played a key role in the Javelina SAAC winning a second straight Lone Star Conference SAAC Cup in 2011. She organized the 2011 LSC SAAC Summer Retreat that was hosted in Kingsville.

Knight worked in the academic and compliance areas of athletics at the NCAA Division I level from 2007-11 at both Grambling State University and Campbell. At Campbell University, she was the assistant director for academic services and compliance. At Grambling, she was compliance assistant in 2007-08.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Georgia Southern University and a master of science in intercollegiate athletic administration from California University of Pennsylvania.

Knight worked extensively with the academic services at Campbell. She monitored the Academic Center, assisted with the Life Skills Program, supervised the Community Service Program, served as administrative liaison for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and assisted with the First Year Experience Class.

Knight has also been very involved in a number of volunteer organizations including Operation In As Much and Relay for Life.
