Men's Basketball Ranked No. 3 in D2SIDA South Region Poll

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Barry University men's basketball team is ranked third in the first NCAA Division II College Sports Information Directors of America South Region media poll.

This is the first year of the D2SIDA poll. A national media poll will also begin this week.

Barry is coming off a season-opening win over Johnson & Wales, 90-62, last Friday. The Buccaneers host Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Health & Sports Center.

Christian Brothers is ranked No. 1 after beating Memphis, 74-70, on the road in an exhibition game and winning the season opener against Harding, 72-61. Florida Southern is second, following wins over West Alabama, 93-76, and Delta State, 97-80, in the Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Challenge.

CBU collected 19 points, Florida Southern 18 and Barry 17 in the first poll. Alabama-Huntsville and Delta State are tied for fourth in the 10-team region poll.
