MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis team was ranked No. 3 in the final NCAA Division II national poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Junior Cristina Valladares and freshman Linda Fritschken received ITA All-America honors as singles players. Valladares and Mona Mansour were All-Americans in doubles.

The Buccaneers, who held the No. 2 spot from the beginning of the season until the national tournament, went 26-1. Barry captured its third straight Sunshine State Conference championship, and won its third consecutive South Region title.

The Bucs' season ended in a 5-2 loss to eventual national champ Armstrong Atlantic in the NCAA semifinals at Top Gun Tennis Academy in Louisville on May 18.

Valladares was ranked No. 12 in the final national singles rankings, finishing with a 7-7 overall record. Fritschken, the South Region Rookie of the Year, ended the year ranked 17th in the country. Fritschken had a 13-1 record with a 7-1 mark against nationally-ranked opponents. Senior Julie Stas completed her collegiate career with a No. 48 national ranking. Stas went 15-3, which included a 3-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents.

Barry's No. 1 doubles team of Valladares and Mona Mansour earned a No. 10 national ranking to cap the season. Valladares and Mansour went 14-6 overall, including a 3-5 record against nationally-ranked opponents.

The Bucs were ranked No. 1 in the final South Region poll.
