MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis team is ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division II Intercollegiate Tennis Association national preseason poll.

Armstrong Atlantic, whom the Buccaneers lost to, 5-2, in a close national semifinals match last spring, is No. 1 in the nation, followed by BYU-Hawai'i, Abilene Christian and Lynn. Seven Sunshine State Conference schools are ranked in the top 25.

Barry's Olivia Matuszak is ranked No. 9 in singles. Linda Fritschken is No. 18. BYU-Hawai'i's Annie Hwang is the top-ranked singles player.

Barry's Isabela Miro de Campos and Fritschken are the 18th-ranked doubles team in the country. Armstrong Atlantic's Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova are the top-ranked pairs tandem in the nation.

The Bucs will host Florida Tech to open the spring season Feb. 2 at Buccaneer Tennis Center.
