WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Three Barry volleyball players received All-Sunshine State Conference honors.
Senior setter Mima Hajdukovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Miami Dade College) received honorable mention All-SSC honors. Hajdukovic recorded 1,024 assists this year, becoming the 11th Buccaneer in school history to accomplish the feat. She ranks 10th in single-season history at Barry in assists.
Hajdukovic also had 183 kills and a team-high 37 aces. She had a .305 attack percentage. She was third on the team with 193 digs and third in total block with 60. She was named SSC Offensive Player of the Week in September.
Junior outside hitter Ashley Carrero (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/UPR-San German) and freshman middle blocker Laine Cielena (Krimuldas Novads, Latvia/Murjani Sports Gym) were both named to the All-Newcomer Team.
Carrero 243 kills, which ranked second on the team. She hit .213, and had 192 digs with a team-best .952 serve reception percentage. Carrero had eight aces, a .924 serve percentage and 24 blocks.
Cielena led the Bucs with 92 blocks, including a team-high 15 solos. She had 214 kills, which ranked third on the team, and attacked at a .266 percentage. She served eight aces, and had a .926 serve percentage.
Cielena was named the American Volleyball Scouting Report Global Player of Week on Sept. 3, and earned Hyatt Place Classic All-Tournament Team honors in mid-October.
