Mariessa Greene was named the 2010 Female Athlete Of The Year. Greene led the Buccaneerss to one of their best seasons in school history, posting a 21-10 mark for the year, and making it to the SSC Championship game and the South Region Tournament. Greene led the Bucs with 19.1 points per game, 10.6 rebounds per game, and a .593 field goal percentage. Greene ranked in the top 25 in the nation in each of these statistical categories as well; fourth in field goal percentage, 12th in rebounds per game, and 21st in points per game. For her efforts, Greene earned SSC Player of the Year, Daktronics Women’s Basketball South Region Player of the Year, and Daktronics First-team All American.
Chris Carlin was named the 2010 Male Athlete Of The Year. Carlin, a three-year letter winner for the Bucs, has been intricate to the success of the Buccaneer golf program since his first season in 2008. This season, Carlin led the top-ranked Bucs with a 72.09 stroke average per round. In addition to his solid stroke average, he set a new school record with a 0.39 vs Par. Carlin took two individual wins this season at the Laker Invitational and the NSU Shark Invitational, in addition to top-ten finishes at the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational, Southeastern Collegiate, and Buccaneer Invitational. Carlin and the Bucs earned a win at the South Regional tournament, their first in school history, and a fifth place finish at the NCAA DII National Championship in May.
