Daniel Stapff fired three straight sub-par rounds to finish 9 under par and win the medalist honors at the St. Edward’s Invitational. He shot below 70 on the first two rounds. The rest of the 90 golfers in the field combined for just two sub-70 rounds. He finished six strokes ahead of Nova’s Ben Taylor in second place. The win is the fourth of his career, breaking the Barry record he had shared with Chris Carlin for career wins.
Brianna Smith tossed three straight shutouts, one-hit shutouts in the series opener against both Tech and Leo and a two-hit, five-inning job in the rubber game of the SLU series. She also tossed four scoreless innings of relief in game three against Tech as the Bucs rallied to win 4-3 in nine innings. She has 23 consecutive scoreless innings. She also hit .375 with a double, a homer and three RBI on the week.
