Barbi Pocza went 3-0 at number one singles for the Bucs last week to stay unbeaten on the season, including upsets of two players ranked ahead of her in the ITA rankings. Pocza, ranked eighth, dominated seventh-ranked Magdalena Ekert of Lynn 6-2, 6-4. She rebounded from a first set loss to #5 Alida Mueller-Wehlau of Armstrong Atlantic to win 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-1. She also beat Dana Burobina of Nova Southeastern 6-1, 6-1.
Chris Carlin led the Bucs to their fourth-straight win in the Buccaneer Invitational this week by posting an even 213. His second-round 66 placed him in a tie for the second lowest individual round in Buccaneer history. The Bucs won the team title at their own tournament all four years with Carlin in the lineup.
