Buccaneer of the Week
March 25, 2013
Marco Mokrzcyki was responsible for wins over the No. 1 singles player in the country as well as the No. 1 doubles team in the nation as he won his biggest matches of the season. His wins helped Barry end No. 1 and defending NCAA Champion Armstrong Atlantic’s 42-match win streak, dating back to beginning of the 2012 season. Mokrzycki was also the first player to beat No. 1-ranked Georgi Rumenov this year, and he and partner Fabian Groetsch were the first to beat Rumenov and Daniel Regan.
Linda Fritschken is on a nine-match win streak, and her victory over No. 14 Marlen Hacke of Armstrong Atlantic helped the Bucs knock off No. 1 and defending NCAA champ Armstrong Atlantic, ending the Pirates’ 43-match win streak, dating back to the beginning of last season. Fritschken improved to 11-1 in singles with a 3-1 record vs. nationally-ranked opponents. She and Twelker are 15-1 in doubles play. Fritschken handed Hacke only her second loss of the season.
