NEW YORK – Barry University men’s golf team retained its No. 1 ranking in the latest GolfWorld/Nike Golf NCAA Division II college coaches poll.

The Buccaneers received 18 of the 19 first-place votes, and 474 points. Lynn remained No. 2 with 413 points. Cal State Monterey-Bay was third with 401 points, Chico State fourth with 400, and South Carolina-Aiken fifth with 393. Sixth-ranked Central Missouri, which fell one spot from the previous poll, claimed the only other first-place vote and 392 points.

Five Sunshine State Conference teams are ranked in the top 19. Two others are receiving votes. Barry is a member of the SSC.

The Bucs have won four tournaments in the 2013-14 season, including two in back-to-back weeks this month. Barry won the St. Edward’s Invitational in Austin, Texas, during Spring Break and the Southeastern Collegiate in Valdosta, Ga., a week later.

Barry will host the Buccaneer Invitational presented by Carrabba’s Italian Grill Monday and Tuesday at Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach. Five teams ranked in the top 20 -- Barry, Chico State, Nova Southeastern, Florida Tech and St. Edward's -- and three receiving votes represent over half of this year's 15-team field.
