WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. -- Barry University women's golf team finished fifth at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational Tuesday after shooting a final round 308 for a 925 54-hole total in the 11-team, three-round tournament hosted by Rollins College.

The Buccaneers were 61-over on the 6,089-yard Tuscawilla Country Club course. Nova Southeastern won the event with a 22-over 886. Lynn was second at 56-over 920, and Rollins and St. Edward's tied for third at 921. It was Nova's fifth straight title in the tournament. The Sharks' 886 established a new event record, eclipsing their old mark by 12 strokes set in 2009.

Barry's Taylor Babcock continued her stronger spring quest, finishing tied for sixth after shooting back-to-back 74s in the final two rounds. A senior from Oregon, Babcock finished at 11-over 227, tied with Nova Southeastern's Lilliana Cammisa.

NSU's Linnea Johansson shot 1-under 71-72-72 -- 215 to win the tournament by seven strokes over teammate Daniela Ortiz. Nova's Abbey Gittings was third, a stroke behind Ortiz, as the Sharks trio finished at the top of the leaderboard.

Barry's Nicky Ferre tied for 10th, shooting 3-over 75 in the final round for a 229 two-day total. Maria Paola Fiorio and Francesca Perini tied for 23rd at 235. Daniela Murray tied for 33rd at 240.

Barry will compete in the Southwest Minnesota State Spring Invite Mar. 14-15 at the LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach.
