DADE CITY, Fla. – Barry University women’s golf team sits in fourth place after the first round of the Saint Leo Invitational Monday.

The Buccaneers shot 19-over 307 in the first of two rounds on the par-72, 6,160-yard Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. Florida Tech leads the 17-team tournament at 4-over 292. Flagler is second, six strokes behind the Panthers, and Lynn third at 16-over 304. Florida Southern is fifth, two strokes behind Barry.

Barry’s Francesca Perini is in a six-way tie for fourth at 1-over 73. She had four birdies. Florida Tech’s Felicia Leftinger shot 2-under 70 to take a one-stroke lead over Northwood (Fla.) Elsa Westin. They are the only two under par. Montevallo’s Elaine Wood is third at even par.

Maria Paola Fiorio, of Barry, is tied for 17th after shooting 76. Martina Bertuccioli shot 79 to find a spot in a tie for 34th with teammate Daniela Murray, whose 7-over came with a birdie on the par-4, 310-yard 15th. Bertuccioli had two birdies, and Fiorio one. Bucs teammate Houria Elabbadi is tied for 45th in the 96-player field after shooting 80. She had three birdies.

Perini led the field in par-5 holes, shooting 3-under.

Tuesday’s final round will conclude the tournament.
