
Jim McCurdy
Assistant Sports Information Director
Jim McCurdy joined Barry University’s sports information staff in December 2011.
He spent two years as an assistant SID at Texas Southern University, where he assisted in the NCAA Division I institution’s media relations coverage with responsibilities centered on women’s basketball, softball and volleyball.
Prior to his two-year stop in Houston, McCurdy was the SID at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix from 2007-09. There, he oversaw all aspects of a 19-sport athletic media relations department. He worked as a media services representative for the 2011 NCAA Final Four in Houston, in addition to serving as a media relations contact for the 2009 NCAA Division II Winter Sports Championships in Houston.
McCurdy, a 1993 English/Journalism graduate of Western Michigan University, has written for ESPN, CBS Sports, The Arizona Republic, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Detroit Free Press, The Seattle Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, San Francisco Chronicle, The Star-Ledger, The Times-Picayune, The Plain-Dealer, The Sacramento Bee, San Diego Union-Tribune, Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Houston Chronicle and others. He did some graduate work at the University of Notre Dame in 1995.
He has a daughter, Amantha.
