Orlando Gonzalez
Associate Coach

Orlando Gonzalez, in his fourth season as a member of the Barry coaching staff, serves as associate coach for the second year. He is responsible for the Bucs’ defensive game plan and works with the perimeter players. He also coordinates the Buccaneer recruiting program.

A graduate of the University of Miami, he played basketball for the Hurricanes from 1999-2001 under coaches Perry Clark and Leonard Hamilton. As a senior, he was honored with the Student-Athlete Award and the Hustle Award.

Prior to his tenure at Miami, he spent two years playing for Bill Sullivan at St. Thomas University. After graduation, Gonzalez taught and coached basketball at Coral Gables High School for one year and is now currently teaching history at Barbara Goleman High in Miami Lakes. He was the head coach of the junior varsity basketball team at Barbara Goleman from 2002-2004.

A native of the Miami area, Gonzalez graduated from Coral Park High where he played basketball for coach Glenn Hyatt. He was the team captain and MVP as a senior after averaging 12 points, two rebounds, six assists, and two steals per game. He led his high school in three-point field goals as a junior and senior. In his two seasons as a starter, the Rams recorded a 32-21 record.
