KANSAS CITY, Kan.—A trio of Barry Buccaneers earned All-South Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America this year, including midfielder Sara Karna and forward Emma Karp who made the second team. Midfielder Lavinia Nkomo was named to the third team.

Karp and Karna tied for the team scoring lead. Each produced four goals and four assists for 12 points. Karp booted game-winning goals against Palm Beach Atlantic and Saint Leo, while Karna notched her game-winner against Florida Southern.

For Karp, it was her third straight year making the All-Region team. She was a first-team pick as a freshman and second-team as a sophomore. For Karna, it was her first award.

Freshman Nkomo was named to the third team after tying Karp and Karna for the team lead with four assists. Her one goal came in a 2-0 win over Saint Leo on Oct. 10.

The Bucs finished 7-7-2 and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time under head coach Fred Jungemann. They have 16 letterwinners, including seven who started at lead 10 games, returning in 2013.
