MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Despite being out-shot 26-7, Barry University’s men’s soccer team defeated Lynn University, 1-0, Saturday night at Buccaneer field.

Barry (3-4-1) managed just one shot in the first half, which was controlled by the Fighting Knights, but on the defensive end the Buccaneers never falter.

It was the senior goalkeeper Johnny Rodrigues coming up big with a career-high ten saves against the defending national champs.

Lynn (3-2-1) put up nine shots in the opening period, but neither team found the back of the net and the game remained a scoreless tie heading into the break.

In the second half, Patrick Drmola scored his third goal in as many games, who connected on a give-and-go with Ryan King to slip past the defense striking a shot past the keeper Harris Smiler in the 71st minute to give the Bucs the 1-0 lead.

The Fighting Knights continued to apply the pressure with several set-pieces including 10 corners in the match, but Rodrigues corralled eight of his ten saves in the second half to seal the victory.

Barry returns to action on Wednesday at 7 pm against Palm Beach Atlantic University before opening the conference slate of the schedule on Saturday against Florida Southern University.
