Barry University men's basketball forward Yunio Barrueta was named a Sporting News NCAA Division II Preseason Honorable Mention All-American in the recently released Sporting News College Basketball Yearbook.
Barrueta, a 6-foot-6 junior from Miami, was a Second-Team All-South Region selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and College Sports Information Directors of America last year. He averaged 14.1 points and nine rebounds per game, scoring in double figures in 25 games.
He was the Sunshine State Conference Newcomer of the Year, and a First-Team all-conference selection after helping the Buccaneers go 19-9 with a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Barry will open the exhibition season with games at Louisville Nov. 1 and Florida Nov. 6.
