Women's Basketball Hosts Sailfish On Saturday

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry women’s basketball team opens a three-game home stand with a non-conference tilt against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2:00 pm in the Health & Sports Center. Fans can follow all the action on the Buccaneer Broadacast Network powered by Stretch Internet through the GameCentral link on the web site.

The Bucs, 8-6, are coming off a tough five-game swing away from the friendly confines, which saw them go 2-3. The Bucs fell 65-46 to Rollins on Wednesday. Jackie Perez led the team with 16 points, including four three-pointers.

Perez leads the team at 12.8 points and 4.0 assists per game. She is shooting a blistering 44.4 percent from three-point range.  She leads the Sunshine State Conference in made three-pointers with 36 and is fifth in percentage.  Nyjah Porcher is second on the team with 11.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Amra Elezovic chips in 10.2 points and a team-leading 6.6 rebounds per game. Richardson, who missed the first seven games with injury, has returned with a vengeance, averaging 10.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and shooting 56.1 percent from the field in the last six games.

The Sailfish, 5-11, are coming off five straight losses. Nkiru Anyagaligeo is the only Sailfish in double-figures, averaging 10.4 points per game. She is tied with Ayanna Holmes at 7.3 rebounds per game.

The Bucs are 19-2 all-time against PBA and have won seven in a row. In the HSC, the Bucs are 11-0. In the last game between the two, Barry walked away with a 74-47 win. Tyler Hardy led a balanced Buccaneer attack with 15 points. Ines Kerin, Colette Eule and Porcher all scored 13 points, while Richardson added 10. Kristie Mason led PBA with 11 points.
