SAN ANTONIO, Texas—Another day, another win over a ranked opponent for the fourth-ranked Barry women’s tennis team as they destroyed 33rd-ranked Cardinals of Incarnate Word 8-0 at the Mabry Tennis Center on Friday.

The only drama of the match came at number one singles as both Barry’s Linda Fritschken and UIW’s Ivana Katavic were both defaulted by the referee after a disagreement on the score.

The Bucs won the other eight matches, most of them handily. At number one doubles, Elisabeth Abanda and Emma Onila derailed Katavic and Andi Botha 8-5. The Bucs took the other two flights by identical 8-1 scores.

In singles, the Bucs (13-0) took three of the five finished matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Onila (#3), Akemi Maehama (#5) and Isabela Miro (#6) all posted flawless victories. Abanda’s 6-1, 7-5 win over Botha at number two was the closest the Cardinals (4-4) would come.

The Bucs return home to Miami Shores for the start of a six-match home stand, kicking off with NAIA #2-ranked Auburn-Montgomery on Thursday, Mar. 14.
