MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers swept the Florida Southern Moccasins in a Sunshine State Conference softball doubleheader 5-3 and 3-0 on Saturday at Buccaneer Field. The Bucs (15-9, 4-2 SSC) rode big second innings to the wins in both games.

In game one, the Bucs loaded the bases with two outs when Ashley Fernandez was hit by a pitch and Alexis Kent and Natalia Ojeda drew walks off Mocs starter Lauren Wolfe (3-4). Megan Copeland came through with a two-run single. After an error by FSC second baseman Lauren Pemberton brought in another run, Julie Brito and Britney Pugh each had RBI singles.

Pugh (2-2) earned the win in relief of starter Camille Czarnecki. Leading 5-1 heading into the fourth inning, Czarnecki walked four in the frame, including two with the bases loaded. But Pugh came in to get leadoff hitter Jordan Alexander to pop out to short and finished off the game with three scoreless innings. She worked around two hits and two walks and struck out one. Wolfe took the loss in the complete game, allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits and four walks.

In the second game, Pugh led off the second with a single and scored ahead of an RBI double by Kent. One out later, Fernandez blasted her first career homer to make it 3-0.

Alexis Yohe (7-4) made the runs stand up, tossing her third shutout of the season. She scattered three hits and two walks and struck out two. Chelsea Oglevie (6-7) took the loss for the Mocs (9-14, 3-3 SSC). She gave up three runs on nine hits and struck out three.

Copeland closed out the series going 9-for-10 with a walk and reached base in all 11 plate appearances.

The Bucs next take on the 20th-ranked Molloy Lions on Tuesday, Mar. 12 at Buccaneer Field in a doubleheader starting at 4:00 pm.
