MIAMI SHORES,Fla.—Director of athletics Michael L. Covone announced today that Fred Jungemann has resigned as head women’s soccer coach at Barry University.
“I would like to thank Barry University and Mike Covone for the opportunity to lead the women's soccer program for the last six seasons,” Jungemann said. “I would also like to thank Dr. (Darlene) Kluka, the athletic department staff, and my fellow coaches. Their friendship, support, and guidance will always be an important part of my Barry experience. Lastly, I would like to thank my assistant coach Denise Brolly and all of the players for their hard work and dedication to the program over these past six seasons. I wish them the best of luck in the future, and will miss them all dearly.”
Jungemann directed the Buccaneers to a 44-54-4 mark over six years at the helm. The Bucs earned an NCAA Regional bid in 2012, the first under Jungemann and 19th overall in program history.
Jungemann leaves Barry to take over the men’s soccer program at Humboldt State. He takes over for Christian Johnson who left the Lumberjacks to take a position at California State-Bakersfield as an assistant with the women’s program.
The Buccaneers will begin a national search for his replacement immediately.
