WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. -- Barry University women's golf team finished fifth at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitaional Tuesday.

The Buccaneers, ranked No. 2 in the nation, shot 313 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 944. Top-ranked Lynn won the tournament with a 903. Florida Tech was second at 913, Host Rollins was third at 922 and Nova Southeastern fourth at 940.

Barry's Maria Paola Fiorio shot 2-over 74 on the 6,089-yard Tuscawilla Country Club course to tie for 16th at 233 in the 14-team, 82-player field. Florida Tech's Johanna Larsson won the tournament with a 2-under 70 final round to finish at 218. Lynn's Samantha Smolen was the runner-up at 221. Louisville's Shannon Gramley and Rollins' Annie Dulman tied for third at 8-over 224.

Buccaneers junior Nancy Vergara shot 79 in the final round, finishing in a tie for 28th at 238. Teammates Martina Bertuccioli and Nicky Ferre tied for 30th a stroke back at 239. Bertuccioli shot 83 in the third round, while Ferre had an 81. Barry's Daniela Murray tied for 32nd at 240. She shot 79 in the final round.

The Buccaneers will host the Lady Bucs Invitational Mar. 17-18 at Don Shula's Golf Club in Miami Lakes.
