HALIFAX, Canada -- Barry University sophomore men's golfer Adam Svensson received an amateur's exemption to compete in the web.com Tour's Nova Scotia Open July 3-6.

Svensson will compete in his second professional event in as many summers on an exemption. Last summer he played in the PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open on a sponsor's exemption.

The Nova Scotia Open, to be played on the Ashburn Golf Club -- New Course, is part of the broader GOLFest Nova Scotia, which incorporates a team match play event between PGA Tour players.

Svensson finished the 2013-14 season as the No. 1-ranked player in NCAA Division II after helping the No. 1-ranked Buccaneers repeat as national champions. He won the Jack Nicklaus Division II National Player of the Year award. He broke the school record for victories in a season (7), and shot a national season-low, school, course and personal-best 61 in the second round of the Buccaneer Invitational at Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach, Florida, on March 31.
