CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Barry University women's golfers Daniela Murray, Francesca Perini and Maria Paola Fiorio were all named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar list. They are three of 664 college golfers in Divisions I, II and III recognized.
Murray, a sport management major from Sao Paulo, Brazil, who had a 3.931 grade point average in the spring, competed in 10 tournaments with a third place finish. Her 77.48 stroke average was a career-best, and her par-72 in the season-opening Florida Gulf Coast Eagle Invitational matched a career low. She had a career-best No. 57 national rating.
Perini, a finance major from San Lazzaro, Italy, who sported a 3.7 in the spring, competed in nine events with a tie for third. She had a 79.0 stroke average with low round of 73 in Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate and the Lady Bucs Invitational. She capped the season with a career-best 111 national rating.
Fiorio, a management major from Torino, Italy, who had a 3.75 in the spring, competed in 12 tournaments with a runner-up finish. She had a 76.53 scoring average and finished with five par-or-better rounds with a career-low 1-under 71 in the NCAA Championships. She earned a No. 30 national rating.
Women's golfers must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better to qualify for All-American Scholar honors.
