MELBOURNE, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers continued their early season success with a 1-0 upset of the 10th-ranked North Georgia Nighthawks at Florida Tech’s Stottler Field on Sunday.

The Bucs (3-0-0) and Nighthawks battled to a scoreless draw through the first half with neither team able to mount much offensively.

But in the second half, the Bucs won a corner kick and Tamara Vuckovich’s service eluded UNG keeper Mallory Sayre in the box and Amanda Traynor knocked it in with a nifty back-heel shot.

That would be all the offense that Barry keeper Becca Rogers would need. Rogers made just two saves to record her second shutout of the season. Sayre had four saves for the Nighthawks (4-1-0) and Jessica Allen added a back save.

The Bucs return to Miami Shores, Fla., on Wednesday, Sept. 17 to face the Florida Tech Panthers at 7:00 pm.
