It was the first five-set match of the season for the Buccaneers, who dropped their first match in two weeks. Barry (8-2, 1-1 Sunshine State Conference) will host No. 25 Palm Beach Atlantic Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Bucs overcame an 18-16 deficit in the second set when Jayla Trombley pounded two kills in between sideouts to put Barry ahead, 21-20. Eva Raat’s kill and an ace by Trombley gave the Bucs a three-point lead. Kills by Katie Dooley and Laine Cielena gave Barry a 2-0 lead in the match.

But Rollins (7-4, 1-2) overcame an 18-16 deficit in the third set as Jessica Wilson pounded back-to-back kills to give the Tars a 22-20 lead. Barry tied the score at 23-23 on a kill by Tashalyn Begon, but the Tars secured the next two points on kills by Wilson and Jennifer Ceballos to make it 2-1.

In the fourth set, Rollins erased an 8-4 hole, and climbed ahead 18-14. Trombley’s kill pulled the Bucs within one, 20-19, but Bri Civiero and Shannon McDonough had kills for the Tars, and a Bucs setting error squared the match at 2-2.

Barry led 9-6 in the fifth set, but Rollins went on an 8-3 run to take a 14-12 lead. Barry held off elimination point on kills by Begon and a Tars error. But the two sides traded points until Ceballos put away a ball and a Bucs setting error ended the match.
