LAKELAND, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers struck early, but could not hold on in falling 4-1 to the Florida Southern Moccasins in Sunshine State Conference +2 action at Barnett Field on Saturday night.

In the 14th minute, Barry keeper Robby Shearer unleashed a monstrous punt and Frank Lustig out-raced everyone for a breakaway against Mocs’ keeper Cole Clingerman that he converted for the games’ first goal.

But the Mocs (4-1-0) answered with four straight goals, two by Jonathan Radvogin.

Shearer made four saves in the first half, but allowed three goals. Jimmy McGregor came on to play the second half and made one save while allowing one goal in his first action of the season. Clingerman had seven saves for the Mocs.

The Bucs open SSC play proper on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Eckerd Tritons.
