Men's Basketball No. 7/8 in National Polls

Barry University men's basketball team is ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Division II College Sports Information Directors of America media poll released Tuesday. Barry is No. 8 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches poll.

The No. 7 ranking is the highest in school history for the Buccaneers. Barry jumped three spots in the D2SIDA poll.

This marks the second time this season the Buccaneers have been ranked eighth in the coaches poll. Barry jumped three spots in the poll after its road win over Florida Southern Saturday. The Moccasins fell to No. 8 in the media poll and No. 7 in the eyes of the coaches.

The Bucs (9-1, 2-0 Sunshine State Conference) will take their top 10 ranking into Winter Park, Fla., for a 7:30 p.m. game at Rollins (7-5, 0-1) Wednesday.

West Liberty (W. Va.) is ranked No. 1 in both polls, having collected all 16 first-place votes and 400 points in the coaches rankings and 12 first-place votes and 341 points in the media poll.

Colorado-Colorado Springs is No. 2 in both polls. Tarleton State (Texas) is No. 3 in the coaches poll and No. 5 in the media poll. Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) is No. 3 in the media poll and No. 4 in the coaches rankings. Indianapolis is No. 5 in the coaches poll and No. 6 in the media poll.  Each of the top five teams are among the eight remaining unbeaten teams in the country.

Bellarmine is No. 4 in the media rankings and No. 6 in the coaches poll. 

Barry received 279 points in the coaches poll and 273 points in the media poll.

The Bucs next home game is 4 p.m. Saturday against Palm Beach Atlantic in the Health & Sports Center.
